  1. well guys.. based on my opinion, i feel that today's presentation was really good. it is because everyone was given the opportunity to voice out their ideas and share the information that they gathered... for me, i believe by sharing information with classmates will enrich our knowledge. for example, today all the group was given the same topic to be presented. however, all the group's manage to present different ideas in different way's. some of them do a role play, few group's play video and explain on it, and so on. so, this shows that how each group portray their messages. another part, was when "FADWA and REEMA" share their Arabic culture. How does English being used in their culture and so on? Guys, i believe for sure we can't travel to their place and learn about their culture and language. But through the presentation that we had today, it enable us to learn more about their culture. besides that, i would say that presentation will be one of the best way to learn because we are not going to memorize or write any notes.. it just by concentrating to each group's presentation we can collect information's and knowledge. finally,i would say that the presentation that we had today was really beneficial..... tc guys....

  5. Hello there...

I observed every group’s presentation and you guys were doing great. Credits to all of you...

Group 1 (Taj’s Group): presented via video entitled Mind Your Language. To name a few of characters; Ali Nadeem (Pakistani), Danielle (French), Anna (Germany) and Giovanni (Italian) they are learning English as foreign language. They were influenced by their mother tongue or first language. I think the group is focusing on different accents of English speakers.

Group 2 (Fatwa’s Group): presented a role-play in a restaurant. This group is focusing on influence of Manglish (Malaysian English) and Arabic. As in Arabic, the word father will become ‘fazer’.

Group 3 (Adam’s Group): this group explained about the usage of Singapore English and Australian English. The group is focusing on the lexical and accents of English speakers. The words like bottle shop, scrubs and paddock are used in Australian English.

Group 4 (Rosnina’s Group): they explained about Japanese accent (the word end without no consonant at all, as an example: Mc.Donaldro), Australian pronunciation of word day as ‘dai’, in Arabic phonetics there is no /p/ and /b/ sound. Meanwhile in Tamil language the letter w in alphabet will change to v, as an example water become vater. In Malaysia, the word –lah is used to complete their sentence.

Group 5 (Vishaalhini’s Group): the group explained about the lexical used by the Indian; as an example the word restaurant becomes hotel, medical becomes pharmacy and dollar becomes dallar. They also emphasized the letter ‘r’ and pronounce the word in deeper sound as ball becomes ballilzh.

Group 6 (Hasanah’s Group): the group talked about the usage of English words in US, UK and Malaysia. They were explaining the lexical word such as glasses and spectacles, oil pump and gas station.

Group 7 (Priya’s Group): the group explained about the differences between British and American words. They also used video as a medium to give details about the usage of English words. As an example, in British, the words like colour, flavour, licence, practice is spelled differently in American English; color, flavor, license, practise.

Group 8 (Arvint’s Group): they explained about the Malays, Indian and Chinese accents. The words like box, grass and coffee is pronounced differently by these ethnics. They also explained about the rhythmic tune used by Sri Lankan.

Group 9 (Reema’s Group): they explained about the Arabic phonetics word /p/, /b/, /r/ and /f/. Hence, they also showed the difference in pronouncing the words in English and Arabic dialect.

Group 10 (Niesha’s Group): they made a role play between a Chinese lady and an Indian guy. This was my favorite presentation. Kudos to group members. The group explained about the slang used by teens today and it is understandable.

  9. i like Reema's presentation as there are lots of information given by her about Arabic speakers, where some information has just come to my knowledge. For example is their tendency to replace /p/ sound with the /b/ sound. so police will become 'bolice'.
thanx to each group for a very useful information...
    highly appreciate it...:)

  10. as overall, the presentation was so good because most of them share their ideas and information with us. it is very good to know other's point of view... and at the same time, it will be helpful for us because too many of ideas will produce a better works. not only that, usually there would be a discussion after each presentation made by each group, so this will help us to correct the mistakes done by each group. in directly, this method will help us to enrich our knowledge on certain parts...
